Since the kindergarten was established in 2004, our children and teachers having been coming from all parts of the globe to celebrate their multicultural similarities and differences.
With our unique systems of curriculum, each family is able to pick the one that best suits their child’s needs.

FAQ

How to enroll?

You can first register on our website, on the left hand side you see the Register Button and fill out the form (You must use Internet Explorer) If you are not able to fill out the form you can also register at our school during the School tour on every Wednesday Morning or Afternoon and fill out a form in person. (To make a booking please call 021-54039822 EXT 105 or 18964850803)

Our school works on a waiting list system. When there is a spot available we will ring the person top on the waiting list to come in for an evaluation. When you have passed the evaluation you must pay for the first month as a deposit and fill out enrollments forms. Administration will then tell you the starting date (depending on which month/semester you applied for)

For 2015 SETEMPER INTAKE – We are starting to call parents beginning of April for Evaluation. Once you have passed evaluation you will need to pay for the full month of September to hold your spot.

What curriculum do you use?

We follow a collaborative curriculum using the American Scholastic Big Day Program for our English teachers in the PreK and K1 levels, a joint British/American curriculum for K2 to ensure a smooth transition to international primary schools, and the locally mandated Chinese curriculum for our Chinese teachers.

How many teachers in a class?

Each class will have 3 teachers each day. 1 foreign teacher, 1 Chinese teacher and 1 Life Skills teacher will be in the class at various times during the school day. These three teachers work together to ensure that all of our student’s needs are met.

What do they eat? And who cooks for them?

The menu is put on the website and outside nurse office every week. The menu changes every week and we follow the government regulation to prepare and buy the produce. At the most recent inspection our kitchens were rated ‘Excellent’ for cleanliness and food safety standards by the Shanghai Municipal government.

How many children in each class?

The class size is dependent on the classroom size. We have from 10-18 children in a class, but aim to cap classes at 15 students.

How long do they sleep?

Nap times are dependent on age and class level as set by the local Education As a guideline:

PK1- 2.5 hours
PK2- 2 hours

K1- 1.5 hours* (K1 will nap 1.5 hours in the first term. The rest time will be gradually shortened in the second term to prepare them for K2, and will be replaced by quiet activities, such as reading.)

K2- no nap, but quiet activities and opportunity to rest for 30-45 minutes per day

Do they watch TV?

The school has a TV regulation, the teachers will only be allowed to play Educational TV to the class on a maximum of 30 minutes per week.

Where do the children sleep?

All Students will have a specific, dedicated cot in their class sleeping area (often the classroom). The cots also have a mattress, pillow and blanket which parents will take home to wash in accordance with class level schedule, as provided by the Life Skills teacher.

What are the school fees? And other fees?

9800 Yuan per month, 21Yuan per day meal & snack fee, 1000 supply fee (only pay per semester) 1600 Uniform fee, School bus 1500 Yuan per month if needed.

How many people in English Section?

Just less than 100 students at the moment in September to February semester 2017

What are the school hours?

8:00 to 3:30

What can we drop off and pick up our kids?

Drop off time is 8:00-8:40 and pick up is 3:30-3:50. In between hours the school gate is closed. Parents/Ayi are not allowed to go in or stay in the classroom during school hours

School Bus

School bus service is available to our students in levels K1, K2 , PK2. Younger Students may not use the bus unless they have a car seat and will ride with an older sibling at the discretion of the school. Parents or Ayis are not permitted to ride the bus. The bus fees are 1500 RMB per month.

Air Pollution

Air Pollution levels are monitored throughout the day. In the event of an Air Quality Index above 100, all classrooms are equipped with air purifiers and outdoor activities will be limited. At 150-200 all outdoor activities will be cancelled. Above 200 we will wait for the government decision about whether or not to close the school.

Procedure for leave/Illness-

If your child needs to take leave for illness please contact the Admini stration as soon as possible during the day and fill out the Sick Leave paperwork when your child returns. In case of a more severe illness, such as Chickenpox, Measles, or Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease please alert the school as soon as possible (See Guidelines for longer illnesses)

For personal leave such as family vacations, please ask for a leave request form from your teacher, or the Administration office. Students are allowed a maximum of 1 month of leave under normal circumstances.
